Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Learn more about this agency Duties You will perform daily operational checks of potable water systems to insure properly injected levels of Chlorine and Fluoride. You will prepare, annotate and maintain Potable Water Plant documents, records, and reports. You will provide information and/or technical advice to the supervisor on plants’ ability to accomplish work assignments and changes in governing directives of State and Federal agencies. You will test and maintain pumps, filters and other equipment associated with swimming pool operations. You will maintain boilers to include blow downs, fire up/take boilers offline, check meters, shafts, bearings, motors, belts, turbines, electric pumps and notify higher grade employees of malfunctions and assist in correcting them. You will follow safety procedures, such as lockout and tagout. Requirements Conditions of employment Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. You are required to possess a current Class III Water and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator certification or equivalent certification acceptable to the state. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes for long periods of time. Work requires considerable walking, standing on concrete floors, climbing stairways and working on catwalks and ladders. Work requires frequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted and occasionally lift and carry heavier items with assistance of other workers or with lifting devices. You will be subject to recall to perform emergency water and wastewater plant operator functions. Must have normal color perception. This position requires a State Criminal History Repository (SCHR) check to be completed on any person selected for this position. You must be willing and able to submit to a SCHR check. Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
