Summary About the Position: This position is located at Keesler AFB, Mississippi. Learn more about this agency Duties Portion, wrap, assemble and arrange salads, desserts, juice, jello, sandwiches and other menu items for patient tray line and dining room. Clean kitchen equipment, dining room tables, and chairs. Operate cash register which records headcount figures, prices for each menu item sold, and cash collected. Operate in accordance with safety regulations, powered and mechanical kitchen equipment to include potato peelers, slicers, mixers, grinders, scales and measuring devices. Set up, operate, disassemble, clean, and reassemble dishwashing machine after each use Load food trays into carts and transport carts to wards. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Personnel Security Investigation is required. Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. A pre-placement medical examination is required. Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds may be required. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Food Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform the common duties of a Food Service Worker. I can follow established safety and sanitation procedures in a kitchen. I can operate, breakdown, or clean various types of food service equipment. I have knowledge in simple food handling procedures, and can follow instructions to portion, garnish, or serve food. I work under supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. The work requires pushing heavy carts and trucks in unloading, storing, and delivering supplies. Use powered cleaning equipment. Requires continuous standing, walking, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and bending. Working Conditions Works in a kitchen environment with constant exposure to steam and heat from cooking and the dishwasher. Environment often uncomfortably hot, noisy and humid. Danger of slipping on freshly mopped floors or on floors where food has be spilled. Danger of cuts or serious burns due to exposure to hot liquids, sharp blades, and hot surfaces. Exposed to constant temperature changes when going from kitchen to refrigerators and freezers. Work area has adequate lighting.
