Summary About the Position: This position is located at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Learn more about this agency Duties Instruct or coordinate Life Support, Tactical Combat Causality Care (TCCC), and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) training programs for the Military Treatment Facility staff. Document training requirements in accordance with regulations for customers or Military Treatment Facility staff. Maintain training database to track customer performance and compliance for medical training. Review feedback reports or recommendations from after-class surveys to identify and resolve training problems. Conduct lesson reviews checking for training accuracy using appropriate regulations. Perform Primary Source Verification of National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians to determine training eligibility. Instruct medical trainers to ensure currency and compliance with regulatory requirements. Purchase training material or equipment using Government Purchase Card (GPC) for Military Treatment Facility courses. Reconcile all transactions on Government Purchase Card in accordance with Defense Health Agency GPC policies. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Personnel Security Investigation is required. Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. Must be able to obtain and maintain licensed as a Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certified Paramedic or EMT. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes verifying medical training credentials, coordinating or leading medical training, and utilizing database to maintain training records for customers or staff. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as, Training and Development, Health Administration or Medical Education. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. Applicants who already possess a license or certification as a Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) are highly desired. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
