DescriptionVilla de Matel Center
Please note that this position is with the Congregation of the
Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word at Villa de Matel Center located in Houston, Texas. The
Villa de Matel Center is the home for the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. It is also used
as a central gathering place for the Sisters and their ministries, a retirement center for the
Sisters and a retreat center for the public. You can learn more about the Sisters and all of their

Summary:
The Registered Nurse (RN) is
responsible for rendering professional nursing care across the wellness-illness continuum for the
comfort and well-being of healthy retired Sisters and those Sisters in the acute, chronic, and
terminal phases of illness. The RN is expected to utilize knowledge of infection control, safety,
body mechanics, effective communication skills, interpersonal skills, and age-related differences
when providing or delegating care.

Associate degree required, bachelor's degree
preferredGraduate from an accredited school of nursingCommunication skills – both verbal and
writtenAbility to understand medical records, physician orders and nursing care plansAbility to
communicate effectively with Sisters, staff and other health care professionals.Minimum of one year
previous gerontology experience preferredPrevious supervisory experience preferredKnowledge of
psychotropic drugs in current use and drugs commonly used in geriatric practiceCurrent RN permits or
licensure issued by the Board of Nurse Examiners in the State of Texas to practice nursing.
