LOCATION: 154th Maintenance Squadron, Hawaii Air National Guard, Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam, Hawaii Learn more about this agency Duties SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The primary purpose of this position is to perform on and off equipment maintenance on aircraft egress systems, such as aircraft ejection seats, extraction and escape systems, and egress components of jettison canopies, explosive components of escape hatches and doors, and egress trainers. The incumbent is also responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, modification and servicing of air munitions and related systems associated with reconnaissance aircraft. These include breech blocks for launching, photo flash cartridges, Aero 27A Bomb racks, drop tank cartridges, engine starters, ejection seat gas initiators, ejection seat rocket meters, etc. Troubleshoots, installs, removes, repairs, modifies, adjusts, inspects, and tests such components as regulators, flow indicators, actuator motors, thruster and positioning mechanisms, seat actuators, catapult guide rails, ejection seats, rocket packs, and canopies, etc. Inspects pressurization system air pressure gauges for sufficient pressure and bottles and regulators for general condition and serviceability. Performs installation, modification, and repair of aircraft egress systems. Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, overhaul, repair, modification and periodic servicing of air munitions and munitions systems applicable to reconnaissance aircraft. Schedules periodic maintenance of aircraft munitions systems when notified by Maintenance Control of inspections due. Loads cartridges, flares, etc., into aircraft systems and removes if not used in flight, following applicable handling, loading, and checkout procedures. Enforces safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations. Reviews bench stock to determine adequacy and to determine required renewals/deletions to accomplish programs and performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of employment NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's ability to repair malfunctions of ordnance equipment and components. Ability to use sketches, electrical diagrams, technical specifications and engineering drawings. Experience which demonstrates skill in the use of test equipment to make electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic checks. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 18 months pf experience or training in planning and layout of repair sequence and ability to complete modification, repair and installation of ordnance systems. Experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting malfunctions and determining remedy where complex relationships exist. Experience in hand tools and a limited number of measuring equipment. Experience in the use of a variety of test equipment. Experience in interpreting technical directions, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams and manufacturer's specifications. NOTES TO CANDIDATES: a. Situations of inversion of military rank are not permitted, i.e., a military technician may not be militarily senior to his or her full-time supervisor. b. Authorization for payment of PCS expenses will be granted only after determination is made that payment is in the best interest of the Hawaii National Guard. c.
