Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation.
About the Position: This position serves as a park ranger performing duties in recreation management, natural resources management, and visitor assistance and services.

Develops programs related to recreational management.
Review short and long range operational plans for parks.
Performs public education and outreach.
Performs financial management duties including formulating operating budgets and administering contracts for parks.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
This position requires the employee to wear the provided uniform.
This position may require a minimum of 24 hours of training in personal protection, unarmed self-defense, situational evaluation, and tactical communication within two years of employment.
Must possess, or be willing and able to obtain and maintain, training in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), blood-borne pathogens, or other training as deemed necessary to accomplish the mission or required by law or regulation.
Must be willing and able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must possess, or be able to obtain and maintain, a valid state-issued driver's license.
This is a Testing Designated position subject to initial and random drug screening tests.
Must be willing and able to operate a Government-Owned Vehicle (GOV) and equipment, such as a truck and trailer.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes administering the conservation and/or use of a project's natural resources; implementing plans for the construction or improvement of a recreation facility; and developing or administering service contracts for a recreation facility. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education with major study in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
GS-11: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes implementing standard operating procedures for parks; managing service contracts; developing and implementing small/short-term recreation projects; and performing public outreach/communication. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education with major study in natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. One year trial/probationary period may be required.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
