Summary About the Position: Serves as the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor in the Facility Management Department. Plans, directs, and coordinates diverse work operations while providing technical and administrative oversight for a team of journeyman-level personnel to ensure efficient operation, installation, and repair of all building electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing systems. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire). This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an "on call" basis, necessary to meet mission requirements. This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common tasks for the installation, operation, and repair of electrical, HVAC, refrigeration, and plumbing systems.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes Blueprint Reading)Ability to Lead or SuperviseKnowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, and Repair, etc.Knowledge of MaterialsTechnical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Physical Effort: Work requires the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in uncomfortable positions. The incumbent frequently lifts, carries and sets up tools, equipment, parts that weigh up to 50 pounds. Occasionally may lift and carry item over 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Works inside buildings, shops, and outside. Subject to contact with dirt, dust, and grease. Also subject to cuts, bruises, and shocks and burns from high voltage. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
