Summary This position is located at the Aquatics facilities which is a part of Fort Benning Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR). Incentives and Bonuses Incentives and bonuses will not be paid. Learn more about this agency Duties Note: This is a training position for a certified Lifeguard. Must participate in all required training (emergency rescue drills, emergency action plan simulations). Mandatory certifications must be complete within 30 calendar days of employment. Training: Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS). American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional; CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED); First Aid. Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training according to ATP 7-22.01 as of October 2020. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of employment Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. A one-year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service, visit: www.sss.gov. Note: Failure to complete the required certification will result in removal from employment. Position, duty hours, location and/or activity are subject to change based on mission requirements. Work hours may involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty. Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation. In addition, the incumbent may be subject to additional background checks if required to have regular and recurring contact with children. Must have current health assessment that documents good physical health, and free from communicable disease IAW current Army Policy. Be able to obtain within 30 days and maintain the following certifications: Lifeguarding, First Aid and CPR/AED from a nationally recognized agency. In addition, for facilities that use Oxygen Administration "O2 bottles" the O2 Administration certification (American Red Cross "Oxygen Administration” or installation offered training must be obtained within two weeks of reporting for duty. All required certifications must obtained within specified time and kept current. Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity. In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period. Lifeguard must have good vision (based upon an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better, either corrected (w/ glasses or contacts) or uncorrected) is necessary while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents and rule breaking. Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment. May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements. Fifteen (15) year old lifeguard trainees must comply with the restriction of the DOL Child Labors Law (Jan 17, 2006). Qualifications Resumes must be two pages (or less). A qualified candidate must possess the following: Must be able to swim and participate in the lifeguard certifications. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Allowances and Differentials This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
