Summary The incumbent serves as a Secretary to the Medical Center Pentad member assigned to direct the activities of clinical services and programs of this tertiary care facility at Oklahoma City VA Health Care System. Learn more about this agency Duties ***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Major Duties: Receives, schedules, refers, and contacts members of the staff, agency, and people outside the agency ranging from other government agencies to the public. Processes incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memorandums, and other forms of written communication. Edits letters, composing letters and reports, reviewing correspondence for accuracy and completeness, prepares public presentation outlines, and develops standard or form letters and replies to inquiries. Schedules appointments, coordinates meetings, and/or schedules conferences. Provides general calendar maintenance, clerical services such as maintaining calendars and recording appointments. Arranges for meeting and small conference administrative details or following up on action items with appropriate staff members independently. Obtains and monitors the use of services, supplies, or equipment for the office. Provides general office supply and equipment support services such as obtaining standard office supplies and services or answering questions concerning policies and procedures related to support office services. Qualifications For GS-8: Possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience to perform the duties of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been gained to at least the equivalent of the next lower grade level of (GS-7) in Federal service. Specialized experience is possessing administrative concepts, principles and practices sufficient to perform independent duties involving elimination conflict and duplication of work, determining when new procedures are needed, studying and evaluating office equipment, and recommending restructuring of clerical activities in the office and subordinate offices. TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee.
