Summary
About the Position: This position is located at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Director for Admin Dept of Patient Admin Outpatient in Bethesda, Maryland.
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties
Establish budget requirements, determines staffing and equipment needs, and plans for future needs and developments.
Makes recommendations and decisions on the allocation of space within the Outpatient Medical Records office, to promote an orderly flow of records.
Analyze technical and administrative procedures in connection with the recording and use of medical data.
Coordinate the training and continuing education activities of outpatient medical records staff members by determining training needs.
Maintain an efficient medical record system which includes procedures for initiation of records.
Direct installation of improved work methods and procedures to ensure achievement of objectives of long- and short-term programs.
Develop systematic procedures for occasional and special reports.

Conditions of employment
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
One-year supervisory probationary period required. A one-year probationary period is required if the selectee has not previously met this requirement.
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
You may be authorized to Telework on a Situational basis.
This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing the medical records programs for both inpatient and outpatient records; analyzing, auditing, coding, and reviewing medical data and records to ensure compliance; and preparing reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
