Job Description

Summary Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees. This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Community Recreation, and Deployed Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations command (CNIC); NBK - Camp McKean. Duties The incumbent provides direct customer service to patrons utilizing the facility. The incumbent greets customers, answers and refers telephone calls, takes messages and provides information regarding the facility and program by utilizing all available resources. Resolves customer complaints, solicits feedback to improve quality of service, and takes corrective action, if needed. Assists with planning, coordination and execution of activities and events associated with the program. May be required to drive an 8 or 15 passenger van and is responsible for comfort and well being of passengers while ensuring participants are equipped with proper equipment and attire. Incumbent maintains participant counts, trip records and logs. Maintains custody of equipment assigned to the activity or trip, advising supervisor of status, any necessary repairs and need for supplies, parts or replacements. Using point of sales and computer programs, the incumbent may register customers for all Fleet & Family readiness classes and trips, check equipment in and out, maintain records and report and collect fees. The incumbent monitors and leads scheduled recreational programs for a multi-station customer facility that may include, but is not limited to, a computer area, gaming area, movie/TV room, reading area, bowling lanes, batting cages, auto hobby stalls, and small snack bar. The incumbent performs minor housekeeping to assist in keeping workspace and facility safe, clean, neat and organized and reports facility issues to the building manager, supervisor or emergency services when appropriate. The incumbent assists any operational situations that may occur. The incumbent will assist with training on established recreation center policies and procedures, and may assist in the preparation of a work schedule. The incumbent performs minor clerical duties such as data entry, record keeping, financial tracking and inventory updates; maintains and updates bulletin boards and facility signage ensuring the facility's neat appearance; assists with the purchase of supplies, materials and equipment for the facility and program. The incumbent performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of employment Must have a valid driver's license and may be required to drive government vehicles including light trucks and up to a 15-passenger van. May be required to obtain and maintain food handlers' certification, CPR and First Aid certification within 90 days of hiring. Work involves frequent lifting or moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Qualifications The incumbent must have one-year practical work experience including direct customer service. Basic computer knowledge is required (data entry, word processing, internet, electronic mail). Incumbent must have at least one year experience handling cash and utilizing a point-of-sale system. Must be able to perform basic mathematical computations. Must be able to communicate effectively and courteously, using proper English grammar and punctuation. Must be able to follow verbal and written direction, and present a neat, clean appearance Education High School diploma or equivalent required. Must upload proof of education.
