Summary About the Position: This position is located in the Nutrition Care, Food Production and Services at Bayne Army Community Hospital, Fort Johnson, Louisiana. A Personnel Security Investigation is required. Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis. This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds may be required on occasion. Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations. A pre-placement medical examination is required. Incumbent will be required to wear and use personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer. Incumbent will be required to wear a uniform and protective shoes Incumbent must demonstrate immunity to Rubella and Rubeola, or injection. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a Food Service Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common food service and food preparation tasks. I have the ability to perform common food service and food preparation tasks. I can prepare cold food items and beverages for food service stands and counters, assemble food trays for delivery and collect soiled trays for the dishwashing station. I work under close supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability to Do the Work of the Position without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Effort: Continuous walking, standing, bending and reaching are required. Guides automatic food carriers weighing a maximum of 1000 pounds up and down hallways and elevators. Lifts up to 40 pounds on occasion. Working Conditions: Works in a clean, well-lighted area with warm temperature in the winter and very hot temperatures in the summer. Uses and cleans electrical equipment such as food carriers and reach-in refrigerators requiring use of detergents. Is subject to falls on floors made slippery by spilled liquids and foods, burns, and extreme changes in temperatures from working area to service halls. These working conditions and hazards are considered normal and have been built into the grading standards for the occupation. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
