Post-Acute Regional Medical Director
Job Description
Take advantage of a rare opportunity to join TeamHealth's leadership team as a regional medical
director within our post-acute care division. The individual hired for this position must live in or
be willing to relocate to the Carolinas region of the country. In this role, you will lead a robust
team within your designated region to maintain an outstanding culture that provides the highest
level of patient care and experience. You will partner with clinical leaders, clinical educators,
and medical directors to develop new business and improve current facility outcomes within the
region.The regional medical director is charged with overseeing the provision of services to
clients, including clinical service delivery, and fiscal affairs related to their assigned region
(Carolinas and South).Responsibilities include:Provision of clinical leadership and coordination of
clinical leaders, clinical educators, and medical directors; and leadership in new business
developmentWorks in a paired leadership model with the vice president of operations
(VPO)Participation in clinical rounding/ facility medical directorship duties should not exceed 20%
of primary responsibilitiesWorking closely with the VPO, clinical leaders, clinical educator and
facility leadership will drive expectations that support the goals of consistent clinical
performance to ensure optimal clinical outcomes and patient experienceWorks collaboratively with the
clinical educator to drive value based care performance improvement outcome goalsAssures clinical
leaders are rounding on a monthly basis and reporting outcomes to drive performanceSupport
recruiting efforts to hire and retain clinicians who are passionate about PAC, believe in customer
service excellence, and are committed to improving the healthcare ecosystemEnsures the onboarding
experience of clinicians and clinical leaders is comprehensive and a positive experienceSchedule and
attend regional practice group meetingsContributes to the development of annual budgets with VPO and
manages contracts to meet budgetParticipates in regional monthly operating reviews (MOR) and
quarterly practice reviewResponsible for implementing recommendations from quarterly practice
reviewsMentorship to practice groups and medical directorsQualifications:M.D. or D.O. degree with
board certificationFive or more years of leadership experience managing cliniciansA regional and/or
national reputation in quality outcomesExperience and knowledge in evidence based medicine, quality
improvement, CMS and pay-for-performance metrics and clinical information technology and
implementationPossesses a good grasp of clinical work flow in both inpatient and post-acute setting
with an interest in clinical information systems and outcomes measurementUnderstands major trends in
healthcare and managed care, and is familiar with point of care products and medical informatics
trends and toolsThe ideal candidate will not only have created the vision within his/her current
function, but also raised broader issues, influencing overall organizational strategy, thereby
contributing to the larger planning process and helping shape the future of the entire
organization A track record of translating overarching organizational strategy into an effective,
long-term action plan for the RMD functionMust be focused on the development of people including
strong skills in mentoring, coaching, building effective teams, selecting physician management
talent, and building and growing skill setsBecome an essential voice in leading TeamHealth
post-acute care and help carry on a long tradition of perfecting the practice of medicine. We
welcome the opp- 20% or less clinical responsibilities- Mentorship to medical directors to lead and
support clinicians- Provision of clinical leadership and coordination of clinical leaders, clinical
educators, and medical directors, and leadership in new business development- Work closely with the
VPO, clinical leaders, clinical educator, and facility leadership will drive expectations that
support the goals of consistent clinical performance and practice standards, to ensure optimal
clinical outcomes and patient experience- Contributes to the development of annual budgets
