Summary About the Position: This position supports the mission of the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Special Staff, Office of the Inspector General and it is located in Falls Church, VA. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Duties investigates allegations of misconduct involving senior and non-senior officials. Alleged misconduct may include Military Whistleblower Reprisal complaints under Title 10 U.S.C. ยง 1034 and the Whistleblower Protection Act. Plans and arranges all aspects of inquiries and investigations, including notification and coordination with appropriate officials. Conducts interviews with complainants, witnesses, subject matter experts, and subjects. Prepares detailed written administrative investigation reports and related correspondence subject to stringent oversight by DoD Office of Inspector General. Evaluates the sufficiency of evidence collected and terminates the investigation or investigative inquiry when sufficient evidence has been obtained to formulate accurate findings, thorough conclusions, and actionable recommendations. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service which includes conducting administrative investigations of allegations of misconduct; gathering evidence; conducting interviews; and writing reports regarding investigations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). . Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13). Additional information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement.
