Supply Technician (Hazmat)

Summary You will serve as a Supply Technician (HAZMAT) in the Supply Management Department of NAVSUP FLT LOGISTICS CNTR JACKSONVILLE. You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination. You may be required to lift up to 45lbs in weight. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing technical supply support work necessary to ensure the effective operation of ongoing Hazmat supply activities. Examples of specialized experience include some or all of the following: 1) Applying knowledge of supply and hazardous material management regulations, policies, methods and procedures to perform a wide assortment of supply transactions, inventory management, and/or warehouse functions; 2) Requisition materials including HAZMAT using automated supply systems; 3) Maintain inventory records and perform physical inventories to ensure accuracy of records; 4) Provide customers with information on the proper handling of hazardous material; 5) Maintain up-to-date and accurate records in regards to HAZMAT related materials and processing of customer requests for hazardous materials. Term appointments may be extended up to 8 years at the discretion of management and in accordance with applicable regulations. Additionally, you may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent career-conditional or career appointment under specific conditions. This is an obligated position. The former incumbent has return rights to this position under PL 86-585. This is a bargaining unit position.
