This position is designated as a LOW RISK position. It requires a fully completed and favorably adjudicated SF85 Background Investigation (T1 or equivalent) that is current (within the last 5 years). This is a condition of employment. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying: Specialized Experience: Applicants must have one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service (obtained either in the private or public sectors) performing three (3) of the following: 1) inspecting construction projects for compliance with contractual documents, specifications, and codes; 2) interpreting data from a variety of sources such as plans, contract drawings and specifications; 3) enforcing construction industry and safety standards on construction projects; 4) resolving conflicts and disputes related to contract requirements or contractor performance; and/or 5) conducting inspections of structural concrete including pipeline large dam embankment construction, canal and canal lining construction, earthwork, reinforced concrete work, tunneling, and road and bridge construction. To learn more about E-Verify, including applicant rights and responsibilities, please visit https://www.e-verify.gov/ Physical Demands: Work is mostly field work often at construction sites requiring strenuous physical effort such as stooping, lifting, bending, walking, climbing, and conducting inspections in a variety confined or limited spaces such as pipes, tunnels, shafts, etc. Working Conditions: Field work involves moderate risks associated with a construction site; however, the work does involve high risks of exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress requiring a range of safety and other precautions where condition cannot always be controlled. This includes shift work (depending on the contractors' schedule), frequent inspection in enclosed spaces such as small to large diameter pipes and tunnels, working at great heights, working in extreme temperatures, etc. In such cases specialized training is provided. Up to 75 percent of the work is performed out of the office. A minor portion is performed in an office setting with adequate accommodations.
