The primary purpose of this position is to provide emergency police, fire and medical services to the public by answering emergency calls and responding with appropriate personnel and equipment.

Duties
Provides emergency FACC communications and dispatching services. Determines the nature of the emergency in accordance with established guidelines.
Provides Emergency Basic Life Support Dispatch services to callers with medical emergencies.
Maintain records, maps, checklists and charts, including automated programs. Maintains a current automated outage status file and ensures oncoming senior fire officials receive current outage reports.
Operates and maintains telephones, automated data processing equipment, printers, recorders, facsimile equipment and other devices installed in the dispatch center.
Prepares and maintains reports and records relating to emergency responses.

Employee must obtain/maintain current Hazardous Materials Awareness level certification (prerequisite for telecommunicator I/II) and International Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) certification Telecommunicator I/II within (1) year of employmen
This position may require drug testing, and the candidate may be subject to passing a drug test upon selection.
Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays
Shift work and emergency overtime may be required.

Emergency-Essential (E-E), Non-Combat Essential (NCE), Capability-Based Volunteer (CBV) and Key Designated Position Statement: Incumbents on this position may need to be removed from their military recall status if alternates are not available.
The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate valid driver's license may be required for the position.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one at least one year of general experience which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-04), level, pay band (NK-1), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc). General experience is described as: performing work involving dispatching emergency personnel or scheduling motor vehicles, keeping records and reports in electronic systems, and operating emergency communication systems.
IDEAL CANDIDATE: (1) one year to obtain telecommunicator I and II certifications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1.Knowledge of emergency communications operations.
2. Knowledge of basic computer operations to include word processing, retrieval and input of data. A qualified
typist is not required.
3. Knowledge of emergency apparatus and the kind of apparatus and equipment needed for the emergency at
hand.
4. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing using a calm and stable demeanor while dealing
with emergency situations.
5. Ability to work independently without immediate supervision.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
