About the position:
This position will be assigned to the Arts & Crafts Center at Nellis AFB.
Flexible employees have no guaranteed hours. This position does not offer benefits.
Must be able to lift/ carry items up to 50 pounds. Requires continuous standing/ walking/ stooping. Subject to metal/ wood splinters, adhesives, paint fumes, cuts, burns, and bruises.
Will be required to obtain Lift Certification to assist at the Auto Hobby Shop.
Uncommon work schedule, including weekends.

Duties
Assists assigned personnel in all areas of the Skills Development Program, Arts and Crafts Center, and may assist as a backup to the personnel at the Auto Hobby Shop. Operates a variety of equipment in assigned areas, to include computerized engravers, copiers, lettering machines, heat presses, air brushes, pouring tables, kilns, mat cutters or mat cutting machine, choppers, engravers, embroiderer, sublimation, heat presses, metal cutter, printer/copier and industrial/hand power tools. Responsible for operating the cash register, collects money, makes change and issues receipts. At the end of each shift, closes out the cash register, completes required paperwork and submits entire package to supervisor. Assists customers in placing special orders. Maintains security of all merchandise, equipment and funds assigned. Provides customer service, answers telephone and assists shop users with craft skill development and work procedures. With guidance from the supervisor, provides demonstrations and guidance on crafts. Maintains clean, neat and safe work area. May assist supervisor if needed with daily deposits, paperwork, inventory/purchasing input, inventory reports, and other routine correspondence as requested.

This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
This position has physical requirements which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
This position may require the incumbent to work an uncommon work schedule, to include weekends.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Experience with one of the following sections: embroidery, sublimation, ceramic molding and painting, painting with other media, fabric crafts, calligraphy and or lettering machines, engraving, laser engraving, glass crafts and mat cutting required. Experience in graphic design software, especially Corel Draw is highly desirable. Ability to read, write, spell and figure basic math and measurements. Possess clear speaking voice and be able to deal with the public.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.

U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal Affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement.
Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. This includes providing any supporting documents needed for verification.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire.
This position requires the incumbent to be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD).
