Summary
About the Position: This positions are located in the Department of Medicine, Sleep Laboratory Clinic at Evans Army Community Hospital in Fort Carson, Colorado.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
Duties
Independently prepares, calibrates, interfaces, and operates all equipment used in polysomnographic procedures.
Operates polysomnographic recording instruments to obtain an electroencephalographic record of patients sleep.
Prepare the patient for tests reassuring the patient, providing basic education concerning the nature of the testing, allaying fears, or misconceptions.
Makes minor repairs and performs operator level maintenance to the equipment used for sleep disorders evaluation.
Post calibrates all the equipment used for the polysomnographic procedure.
Independently interprets data obtained from all night recording.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
One year probationary/trial period may be required.
This position has been designated as a Drug Testing Designated Position and is subject to a pre-employment screening and random testing thereafter.
Child Care Background Check Required for this Position.
Must be able to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and Certifications from the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross within 6 months of hire.
Nights, weekends, and holiday work is required. (Shift work is required)
A pre-employment physical is required.
This position is covered by Health Affairs Policy 97006, 23 Oct 96 the position requires the employee to obtain Hepatitis B immunizations and Tuberculin testing unless exempt by physician.
Employee will be required to wear and use personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer.
This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Licensure/Certification: A certified Polysomnography Technologist, Preferred Registration by the Board of Polysomnography Technologists (BRPT) is highly desired.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders, including in center and home sleep apnea testing; diagnostic and therapeutic interventions; AND operating, monitoring and maintaining equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
One year trial/probationary period may be required.
