Summary About the Position: This position is with Defense Health Agency, Mental Health Clinic located at the Ireland Army Health Clinic, Fort Knox, KY. This position serves as Inpatient/Outpatient Mental Health (IBH) Psychology Technician, providing individualized and group, direct and indirect patient care to clients that are primarily active-duty military soldiers and other eligible personnel, and consultation. Hours: 0730-1700 float (shift varies upon mission) This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Learn more about this agency Duties Assist in developing patient treatment plan based on interview data, observations, reports of others, review of records, psychological test results, and physical and mental status of the client. Perform intake and ongoing mental status evaluations for patients. Assist with interpreting data and providing treatment recommendations. Perform a variety of technical, administrative, and clerical duties in support of Outpatient Mental Health. Maintain staff competency folders and workload management data. Co-facilitate psycho educational group therapy. Monitor the use of hazardous items. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment. This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis. This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire). This position has a TDY or business travel requirement of 5% of the time to various locations. This may require travel on military aircraft, ships, and vehicles. Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions. This position requires the incumbent to work rotating shifts, extended hours, weekends, holidays and/or other schedules common to hospital operations. This is an inclement weather position. The incumbent is expected to make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during inclement weather conditions. Must obtain within 30 days of employment and maintain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS). Must obtain within 6 months of employment and maintain Prevention and Management of Disruptive Behavior (PMBD) required training. This position requires the ability to lift 40 lbs. Incumbent will have to pass a pre-employment physical to meet Physical Efforts requirements. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination. This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement therefore the incumbent is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) conducting intake for mental or behavioral health patients; (2) educating and/or counseling behavioral health patients; AND (3) familiarity with patients who are at risk for suicide or homicide. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Psychology, Human Services, Child & Family Welfare, Counseling, (ex. Crisis, substance abuse, mental health, chemical dependence), Family and Community Services, Behavioral Science, Human Development, Social Work, Sociology, Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
