Summary
This position is located at the Magrath Pool within the Magrath Sports Complex.
This position is for Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (FMWR) at Fort Drum, New York. FMWR includes Child and Youth Services, Business Recreation, and Support Services, which enable Soldier readiness, support the resilience and well-being of Soldiers and Families.
Incentives and Bonuses
Incentives will NOT be paid.
Duties
Performs life guarding duties and employs safety rules for the protection of the pool guests.
Responsible for assisting in the conduct of aquatic swimming and water survival training.
Assists with scheduling of staff and programs, tracking inventory and ordering supplies.
Assists in maintaining pool and area clean and free from any hazards.
Assists in coaching or preparing the competitive and non-competitive swimming programs as required.

Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
A one-year probationary period may be required.
Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
Lifeguard must have good vision (based upon an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better, either corrected (with glasses or contacts) or uncorrected).
Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with Army Regulation 215-3.
This position requires a favorably adjudicated T1/NACI background investigation.
Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
Incumbent is required to follow environmental safeguards and wear personal protective equipment.
May be assigned to irregular duties or when needed for special recreational events and related requirements.
Work hours will involve weekend, weekdays, holidays and night duty.
An employer referred pre-employment physical examination is required.
Must be willing to obtain an American Red Cross "Automated External Defibrillator" (AED) certification or nationally recognized equivalent certification within two weeks of reporting for duty.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess (or in the process of obtaining) the following:
Lifeguard certification (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard or Ellis), AND
American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional" or CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent certification (i.e. Star Guard or Ellis), AND
First Aid certification, AND
experience providing customer service to others

This job is open to candidates who are U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals that have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation and reside within the Local Commuting Area (defined as 100-mile radius) of Fort Drum, NY.
Spouse Employment Preference (SEP) and Involuntarily Separated Military Preference (ISMP) are included in this area of consideration.

Allowances and Differentials
This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday Premium and Night Differential pay have NOT been authorized by the Garrison Commander or the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Flexible positions with no guaranteed hours.
Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will NOT be paid.
