Summary
This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Information Technology (OIT).
As a IT Specialist (ENTARCH/ SYSANALYSIS) referred to here as a IT Specialist (Cloud Platform Engineer), GS-2210-13, you will will function as a technical authority providing cloud platform engineering expertise, financial operations oversight, technical consultation, and analytical reports.
Duties
Design and manage hybrid and multi-cloud environments across Azure, AWS, GCP, and Oracle using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
Manage CMS’s cloud infrastructure and networking, including provisioning, monitoring, and troubleshooting systems for identity and access management, security, and disaster recovery.
Manage and maintain CI/CD pipelines that integrate testing, security, and compliance controls.
Oversee security and compliance efforts, ensuring adherence to FedRAMP and FISMA standards, managing disaster recovery plans, and coordinating incident response.
Develop and implement innovation and cost optimization through FinOps practices, and drives Cloud Center of Excellence strategic initiatives established CMS agency-wide.

Qualifications

In order to qualify for the GS-13, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
Deploying and maintaining hybrid or multi-cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) using Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as CloudFormation to support enterprise-level systems;
Building and maintaining Continuous Integration (CI) or Continuous Delivery/Deployment (CD) pipelines and tools according to GitOps principles and applying security and compliance checks within automated DevOps or DevSecOps workflows; AND
Providing technical guidance on cloud platform operations, including security configurations, system resilience, and compliance requirements, within a regulated or federal enterprise environment.
