Summary
About the Position: This position is with Dwight D. Eisenhower Army Medical Center (DDEAMC) in Fort Gordon, Georgia, instructing Soldiers enrolled in the Army licensed practical nursing (LPN) course. It is a Mon-Fri 8-hour position, which splits time between office work, classroom lecture, skills lab and clinical instructing. 0700-1600 (including lunch) on a lecture/skills lab/didactic day and 0600-1500 (including lunch) on a clinical day.

Duties
Facilitates comprehensive classroom and bedside instruction for the 68C Practical Nursing Specialist program, utilizing diverse instructional techniques to prepare students for clinical competency and NCLEX-PN licensure.
Executes all training in strict accordance with all regulations, ensuring program instructions and nursing standards meet the rigorous requirements of both military and civilian accrediting bodies.
Oversees the end-to-end administrative processing of students, including enrollment, the maintenance of accurate educational records, the resolution of personnel issues, and the execution of formal graduation proceedings.
Manages clinical rotations and training activities across military treatment facilities and civilian hospitals, maintaining formal affiliation agreements and collaborating with departmental leaders to optimize student placement.
Designs learning objectives and assessment tools, including test development and item writing, while staying current on adult education trends to enhance the professional development of both military and civilian healthcare staff.
Advises leadership on competency assessment protocols and the maintenance of Competency Assessment Folders (CAFs) to ensure organizational compliance with Joint Commission standards and updated hospital regulations.

This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
This position has a requirement to lift up to 60 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and subject to annual vaccination.
Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. Detection of the presence of drugs is warranted.
Applicants must be able to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges.
This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
This position requires incumbent to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor status within one year of employment.
This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
Position is designated as Inclement Weather Essential. The incumbent must make every attempt to report for work on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Nurse (Educator):
Degree: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).
Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
Foreign Degree: A degree from a Foreign Nursing School. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet the requirement below. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.
Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
Active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Education/Experience: A diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program and possession of at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or above) which includes providing comprehensive nursing care within inpatient and outpatient facilities, performing patient or staff training, and preparing clinical instruction programs or materials.
OR
Education: A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree from a professional nursing educational program or related medical science field.
EXEMPTION: You are exempt from the qualification requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet one of the requirement below. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.
Completion of all requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) from a professional nursing program
OR
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education from a professional nursing program.
