Job Description
Summary
Serve as senior attorney and manager, exercising broad responsibility for planning, directing, and coordinating the work of a professional staff engaged in the SEC's Enforcement program. This position is in the Division's SOX Group and reports to the Chief Accountant of the Division.
Duties
The SOX Group will investigate and litigate matters involving potential violations of auditing and related professional standards and provisions of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and other relevant federal securities laws.
Typical Duties Include:
Leads a specialized team on fast-moving matters which will expand the scope of the current work in priority areas, while augmenting capability in historical priority program areas supporting high-quality financial reporting and audit quality.
Manages and coordinates the work of teams which can include attorneys, accountants, experts and support staff, and performs a full range of supervisory duties.
Enforces the federal securities laws, sets priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work; recommends promotions or reassignments; hears and resolves complaints; mentors and trains staff; and identifies development and training opportunities for employees.
Supervises staff members who interact with the public and evaluates complaints and other allegations of potential misconduct related to Federal securities laws, rules and regulations.
Participates with other supervisors in the management of the SOX Group and consults with and advises Division leadership, Associate Directors, Unit Chiefs and others on administrative matters relating to budget, personnel, and office/unit procedures.

You must possess a J.D. or LL.B Degree and you must be an active member of the bar in good standing.
SUPERVISORY TRIAL PERIOD: This appointment may require completion of a two-year supervisory trial period.
Qualifications
All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. ualifying education must have been obtained from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

BASIC REQUIREMENT:
J.D. or LL.B. degree --AND--
Active membership of the bar in good standing in any state, territory of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the commonwealth of Puerto Rico. (Note: proof of bar membership will be required before entry on duty.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENT: In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must also meet the minimum qualification requirement
SK-17: Applicant must have at least four years post J.D. experience identifying legal issues, providing legal analyses, providing legal solutions/recommendations, and preparing legal documents, such as contracts, dispositions, pleadings, and motions, which also includes at least three years:
(1) conducting investigations or litigation and making recommendations for actions; AND
(2) planning, organizing, and coordinating projects or initiatives, policies or processes; AND
(3) developing strategic resolutions to problems or obstacles that may arise in the course of an investigation.

New York, NY: $189,009 - $289,400
Washington, DC: $183,515 - $289,400
