Summary
This position is located at Bureau of Engraving and Printing, within the IT Support Division WCF. As an Information Technology Specialist (CUSTPST), you will be providing customer support in performing a variety of technical and administrative duties associated with the acquisition, installation, use, and maintenance of Bureau information technology (IT) systems, equipment, and associated materials.

Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis. Assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis.
Weekend work and overtime, if applicable, will be scheduled when needed based on production requirements as determined by Management.

Specialized Experience for this position includes
For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility at the GS-12 level in the Federal service or equivalent, which have equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience includes experience:
-Providing IT services such as designing, developing, testing, or documenting end user applications and solutions. AND
-Maintaining information security architecture for an agency's information technology, infrastructure, including WAN, LAN, Internet, extranet, and intranet. AND
-Developing policy, standards, and processes that provide for the efficient and secure operation of agency information technology (IT) systems.
For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility at the GS-11 level in the Federal service or equivalent, which have equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience includes experience:
-Participating in technical planning, product evaluation, and report development. AND
-Providing IT services such as maintaining or integrating end user applications and solutions. AND
-Partnering with customers to recommend enhancements or technical business solutions to improve operation efficiencies to existing IT processes.
For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility at the GS-09 level in the Federal service or equivalent, which have equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.
Specialized experience includes experience:
-Performing IT Customer Support work that involves explaining IT systems to users. AND
-Installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and communicating IT issues inside the business unit in order to provide first-contact customer service problem resolution. AND
-Identifying and implementing improvements to work IT processes and procedures
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree
or
3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
In addition to specialized experience, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

The facility typically shuts down annually between Christmas and New Year's Day. As such, all BEP employees must take leave for workdays during the shutdown period.
This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with Treasury. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow Treasury to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time. SUITABILITY, CLEARANCE & REQUIREMENTS: A background investigation will be required for all new hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background investigation and favorable adjudication. Failure to successfully meet these requirements will be grounds for disqualification in the hiring process. The background investigation process conducted by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing is very thorough. Therefore, it is imperative that applicants exercise candor and honesty when answering background questionnaires, especially as it relates to arrest, employment, education, finances, illegal drug use, and/or other criminal history.
