Learn more about this agency Duties You will be responsible for integrating emergency procedures with current information and communications capabilities. You will conduct reviews and analysis of EM-related capability, hazard, and vulnerability assessments and reports findings to the EM program manager for consideration. You will facilitate the preparation for, response to, and recovery from any all-hazards incident or event, thereby minimizing operational “down time” with rapid shore-based response and restoration. You will plan and execute specified emergency functions during operations and exercises. Responsible for establishing, managing and maintaining the operational readiness of assigned Emergency Operations Center(s). You will provide and/or coordinates the delivery of required emergency management and operational planning training. Requirements Conditions of employment Must be a US Citizen. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing all-hazards emergency management plans that provide processes and procedures throughout response and recovery from incidents; 2) Creating recommendations for development, adoptions, and implementation of an effective emergency management program;3)Conducting emergency management assessments to identify deficiencies and recommend corrective actions; and 4) Applying concepts, principles, and/or practices of emergency management and homeland security to ensure compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. Additional information Incumbent may be directed to deploy on short notice in advance of or in response to major incidents within the Region to augment Regional ERG operations or installation-level EOC staffs. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The work is sedentary, being performed for the most part in an office or conference room while seated at a desk or table. The incumbent may be required to lift and carry books, files, documents, records, and working papers. A moderate amount of walking and standing is required in getting to and from meeting/conference sites away from the work site. During technical assistance visits to installations and activities, employee is required to conduct walk through inspections of emergency and other storage and classroom facilities. When augmenting Regional ERG operations or installation-level EOC staffs may require physical demands at incident scenes to help coordinate response in support of the Incident Commander, and serve as the eyes and ears of the EOC OIC, on scene. WORK ENVIRONMENT Most work is performed in a properly heated and ventilated, air conditioned, and well-lighted office setting. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. Assignments require occasional visits to industrial areas which involve minimal risk of exposure to various hazards such as toxic material, high noise levels, explosives, ionizing and non-ionizing radiations, high intensity optical and infrared sources, laser light sources, and dust/fumes. Protective equipment and clothing are sometimes necessary. Observance of special safety precautions is required.
