The Position

Genentech, Inc. seeks a Statistical Scientist in its South San Francisco, California location.

Duties: Partner with senior scientists in clinical, safety, regulatory, and research on clinical development projects. Serve as a member of clinical team, collaborating in preparation of Clinical Development Plans and target product profiles. Serve as lead statistician on cross-functional study management teams. Review study protocols, author statistical sections of protocols, prepare study randomizations, develop statistical and data analysis plans, develop independent data monitoring charters and charters for independent reading centers. Review case report forms to ensure protocol objectives are met and project standards are maintained. Develop statistical programs as necessary to perform analyses. Review and approve analyses produced by statistical programming. Author clinical study report. Provide input into global health authority documents and regulatory response for health authority submissions. Contribute to study publications and presentations. Provide analytical and strategic leadership for exploratory activities such as personalized healthcare biomarker development. Lead cross-functional teams in overseeing the generation of health authority submission datasets and associated documentation. Participate in health authority meetings. Participate in functional training and development of functional processes. Participate in Biostatistics and cross-functional initiatives. Keep abreast of new developments in statistics, drug development, and regulatory guidance through literature review, conference attendance, etc.

Education and experience required: PhD degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics or related field. Alternatively, Master's degree in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics or related field, and 3 years of experience as a Statistician, Biostatistician, Statistical Scientist, or related position.

Special Requirements: Position requires the following skills from academic (Master's or higher degree) or industry experience:

  • Application of statistical methods to drug development, including clinical trials and real world data;
  • Use of statistical software (R or similar) for statistical analysis, data accuracy checks, sample size calculation, data simulations, and data visualization;
  • Application of knowledge of regulatory requirements for clinical trials or drug development;
  • Present or explain study designs and statistical methods used in clinical trials to non-statistician audiences such as physicians and medical researchers.

May telecommute up to 2 days per week.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of California is $157,512.00 to $210,100.00 per year. Actual pay within the range will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
