The Position
Ventana Medical Systems, Inc. seeks a Sr. Engineering Manager in its Tucson and Marana, Arizona locations.
Duties: Within a global biotechnology company, Identify engineering needs for a highly regulated cGMP manufacturing site's facilities. Define engineering projects, develop innovative solutions, evaluate engineered solutions, develop project documentation, and implement engineering changes/additions. Develop FDA validation protocols and data for engineering solutions. Operate manufacturing site facility infrastructure, including HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) system. Monitor and analyze all system status to identify trends. Ensure that preventative, corrective, and predictive maintenance programs for site facility infrastructure are functioning at optimal levels. Facilitate operating units' capability to perform their functions, and ensure effective and optimal space utilization and energy conservation at the highly regulated cGMP manufacturing site. Research information and present data on manufacturing site facility-related topics, such as planning of facility needs, master facilities maintenance plan, and disaster recovery plan. Analyze facility support of manufacturing effort. Identify needs, shortfalls, or negative trends. Engineer solutions and implement infrastructure changes. Develop and execute validation protocols with respect to facilities and facility systems. Maintain manufacturing environment in accordance with established parameters. Analyze energy consumption, identify energy saving opportunities, develop appropriate engineering projects, and implement controls to improve conservation activities. Analyze manufacturing facilities processes and equipment to identify opportunities to reduce negative environmental impacts. May supervise up to 4 employees, Facilities Engineer and Maintenance Journeyman.
Education and experience required: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related Engineering field, and 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience job offered, or related role.
Specialized Requirement:
Must have at least 5 years of experience with each of the following:
- Conducting project evaluations through Best Value Option Analysis; developing cost estimates and identifying critical path schedules for proposed projects; and performing risk management.
- Identifying the required tools; estimating number of resources; and defining the sequence of activities to execute any maintenance task.
- Developing and implementing engineering disciplines for cross reviews & specifications to support projects.
Must have at least 2 years of experience with each of the following:
- Implementing Good Manufacturing Practices to provide input and support all engineering designs and projects.
- Applying IWS Methodology; defining actions to eliminate losses through Plan Do Check Act Cycle.
May telecommute 2 days a week.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of Arizona is $154,632 to $221,000 per year. Actual pay within the range will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
