The Position

Roche Molecular Systems, Inc. seeks a Principal Software Engineer in its Santa Clara, California location.

Architect, design, and implement high-quality software that performs at scale for healthcare providers. Collaborate with stakeholders regarding product requirements and goals. Translate customer requirements into technical designs. Collaborate with software architects to validate technical feasibility. Build, maintain, and extend development processes and tools to ensure ongoing improvements to team productivity and product scalability. Design and implement a platform software solution which can be consumed by other teams within the organization for easier onboarding. Design and implement infrastructure as code artifacts for deploying build software solutions. Contribute to architecture and direction of product design. Provide technical leadership within and across Scrum teams and manage Software Change Management (SCM) cycle for the team. Work with other teams to adhere and implement software which follow healthcare standards such as FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources). Collaborate with product managers, UX design leaders, and engineers in an Agile development environment. Collaborate with quality engineers and Development and Security Ops teams to identify opportunities for test automation. Drive codification of compliance and security standards into development toolchain and operations monitoring systems. Ensure software integrates with existing continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline. Mentor junior developers and work with junior engineers in the team. Develop, manage and provide guidance on software development best practices. May supervise up to 0-5 junior software engineers. Telecommuting permitted up to 4 days per week.

Education and experience required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics or Electrical Engineering, or related field and 8 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience as a Software Engineer or Developer, Technical Specialist or Lead, Systems Analyst, or related role.

Alternative education and experience required: Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics or Electrical Engineering, or related field and 6 years of experience as a Software Engineer or Developer, Technical Specialist or Lead, Systems Analyst, or related role.

Special Requirements: Must have:

5 years of experience with a Bachelor's or 3 years of experience with a Masters with:

• healthcare and native cloud software application development
• Software as a Service (SaaS) and event driven architecture
• Java, Spring, Junit, and GIT
• application security (OAuth2.0, OIDC, SSO, and TLS)
• applying knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards
• Agile and RESTful architecture.

Must also have 3 years of experience with Kubernetes, AWS, Message Queue (Kafka or RabbitMQ), PostgreSQL, Docker, Terraform, and CI/CD (continuous integration and continuous delivery).

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of California is $212,688 to $283,800 per year. Actual pay within the range will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
