The Position

Roche Molecular Systems, Inc. seeks a Principal Architect in its Santa Clara, California location.

Lead application and solution architecture and design. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand product objectives and software requirements. Communicate with customers to explain technology and translate customer insights into technical deliverables. Work with the product manager, project leader, and technical lead to plan requirements activities for platform software projects. Lead harmonization, modular design and reuse initiatives within the software cluster. Influence software system and architecture through design concept generation and planning, contributing to product roadmap, and reviewing design and coding for software components and features. Ensure the design and delivery of software components will perform at scale, be supportable, and be extensible, that the software stack integrates with existing Continuous Integration (CI) pipeline (such as Jenkins), and that software code is automation testable. Develop and manage software performance metrics and standards that align with our product development goals. Help with custom tool development. Lead DevOps team on technical release management and coordination. Identify and implement software best practices. Lead software development continuous improvement initiatives. Mentor junior engineers. Keep abreast of cutting edge developments and technologies in his field and make appropriate design and technology choices. May supervise 0-5 junior software professionals.

Education and experience required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 8 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a Software Architect or Consultant, Senior Software Engineer, Software Engineering Manager, or related role.

Special Requirements: Must have:

• 8 years of experience with SQL, Java, Spring, AWS, Message Queue and Python
• 8 years of experience with IT project and stakeholder management
• 8 years of experience with relational database management system
• 8 years of experience with Agile methodology
• 8 years of experience with complex enterprise applications development
• 6 years of experience with software architecture design
• AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of California is $283,442 to $328,300 per year. Actual pay within the range will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
