Qualifications Applicant must have directly applicable experience that demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for immediate success in the position. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies or knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. Such experience is typically in or directly related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying knowledge of standard software engineering principles used to develop software from concept to distribution. Experience applying knowledge of databases and using SQL, PERL, UML, XML, and commercial database software including PostgreSQL, MS SQL, or other database software. Experience applying knowledge of the LINUX and MS Windows operating systems and scripting languages. Experience applying knowledge of Web/Internet Technology and concepts, and implementing systems using Microsoft IIS, Apache, Java, MS FrontPage, MS Publisher, or other Internet/Intranet tools. Experience using standard communications software such as File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Experience applying knowledge of software documentation procedures. BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Education: All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions. Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks. Noise levels in the computer center are moderate with some levels above average. Some travel is required, most of which is scheduled. However, some travel is on an emergency basis.
