Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This Position is located with: US ARMY IMCOM JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD DIRECTORATE OF PUBLIC WORKS OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE DIVISION BLDG&GROUND BR, GROUNDS Learn more about this agency Duties Operate large, complex riding mowers with independently controlled cutting decks, hydraulic dump system and/or power flow material collection system. Use a gas-powered trimmer to trim grass around buildings, sidewalks, trees, and shrubs. Police buildings, grounds, and lake areas pick up trash and debris, pulls weeds, waters grass, and flower beds and rakes leaves. Operate up to 1-ton pick-up truck to transport materials such as beauty bark and topsoil in and around the installation. Use a high-powered pressure washer for cleaning sidewalks, building exteriors, and other facilities. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. A Tier 1 non-sensitive low risk background is required throughout the appointment. A State Driver License is required (must provide a copy when applying). Employee is subject to pre-employment and annual physical exams. This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) LABORER ~ Have the ability to perform common laborer duties. 1)Have the ability to operate mowers and grass trimmers to perform lawncare duties such as mowing edging or blower. 2) Perform pre-use safety and equipment checks and make minor repairs on equipment as needed. 3) perform cleaning duties such as picking up trash, pressure wash sidewalks or clean equipment when the job is completed. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work requires considerable standing, walking, bending, stooping, and other awkward and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts, moves, and carries items up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifts and carries heavier items. Frequently pushes heavy equipment and other material. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works outside, exposed to hot and cold temperatures, bad weather, dirt, drafts, noise, grease, and fumes. Subject to minor injuries such as cuts, scrapes, bruises, strains, insect bites and stings, and occasionally more serious injuries such as broken bones and severe cuts from flying debris or collisions. As required, uses safety equipment and clothing such as ear protectors, safety glasses, and shoes. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
