Job Description
Summary
You will serve as the Orion Production Operations (OPO) Module Assembly Operations Lead, providing insight, oversight, and in-line support for assembly, integration, and production (AI&P) of an assigned Orion module in support of Artemis. You will manage and assess technical data for Certification of Flight Readiness (CoFR) and endorsement of the as-built spacecraft, independently evaluating module technical and schedule risks and AI&P performance.
Duties
Collaborates with contractor and/or International partners to achieve technical and schedule performance commitments for Orion spacecraft assembly, integration, and production (AI and P) from parts delivery through NASA spacecraft acceptance.
Manages and evaluates technical data/evidence documented in the Orion Production Operations (OPO) Certification of Flight Readiness (CoFR) hardware installation review process and delivers AI and P inputs for system acceptance and certification.
Analyzes and evaluates module AI and P flow to identify schedule and technical risks, opportunities, and conflicts; forecasts impacts, drives mitigations, and recommends process improvements to ensure spacecraft producibility.
Coordinates daily assembly, resolves hardware and safety issues, and works closely with Engineering, Safety and Mission Assurance (S and MA), and Test Execution personnel.
Monitors daily AI and P work, tracks progress and issues, and delivers concise daily and weekly performance updates to OPO and Program management.
Sustains technical expertise in Orion spacecraft systems and components to effectively analyze and advise on AI and P operations and integration.
Supports program panels and boards that review and decide on flight hardware design updates and issue resolutions related to spacecraft production.
Ensures program strategic and mission plans for Orion are communicated, understood, and integrated into the team’s goals and objectives.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Education Requirement (in the Education section below), to qualify for this position you must meet the requirements below. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.
NASA utilizes OPM-approved qualification and rating requirements specific for Aerospace Technology (AST) positions which recognizes NASA's unique aerospace work. The specific qualifications and minimum education requirements are further described below and within the education section of the job announcement.
To qualify for GS-13, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level:
Interpreting and evaluating technical data and evidence to support Certification of Flight Readiness (CoFR), hardware installation decisions, and endorsements for System Acceptance Review/Design Certification Review.
Performing independent risk assessments and developing performance metrics to evaluate flight hardware assembly decisions.
Applying knowledge of spacecraft systems, subsystems, or components to analyze, explain, or improve spacecraft AI&P operations.

Education
Basic Education Requirement: You must have successfully completed a bachelor's degree with a major in one of the following:
a) Engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs
b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science or other field of Science
c) Computer Science that included 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours of course work in any combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science with at least half of those hours in mathematics and statistics courses that included differential and integral calculus; and that provided an in-depth knowledge of theoretical and practical applications of computer science, including digital computer system architecture and system software organization, the representation and transformation of information structures, and the theoretical models for such representations and transformations.
If you did not complete a qualifying bachelor's degree, you may be eligible if you have obtained a graduate degree in an AST qualifying field, as listed above.
Degrees in engineering technology are not considered qualifying for this position.
