Summary
This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Duties
You will plan and lay out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders in the construction and maintenance of installation facilities.
You will independently apply skilled methods, techniques, and advanced shop mathematics to construct, install, repair, and modify a wide variety of structures.
You will apply skilled methods and techniques in pain preparation and coating applications.
You will use safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work environment.
You will use and maintain tools.
You will prepare various surfaces of interior and exterior components of buildings and other structures by mechanically and chemically removing old paint and rust, filling cracks, sanding, and applying fillers and base coats.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

This is a bargaining unit position.
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
Must be able to obtain and maintain certification for working with and/or removing hazardous material.
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
May lift and move materials up to 40 pounds, unassisted, and occasionally lift or move heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers.
Qualifications
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability to perform common tasks under general supervision including constructing, installing, repairing, and modifying wood and wood substitute structures and items requiring close tolerance fit and structural soundness; and, blending and matching paints, and coating various surfaces requiring fine finishes and decorative effects.

This position requires rotating shift work.
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
On-site work typically requires scaffolds, and platforms, and in situations where the surfaces to be coated are in cramped and hard-to-reach places.
Exposed to moderate or high noise levels from operating machinery, sawdust in the air, fumes, and hazards associated with carpentry and painting trades.
May be exposed to weather conditions and hazards of working on and around scaffolds and ladders.
Exposure to toxic paints, chemicals, or other hazards may require occupational health examinations.
