Duties
You will serve as the primary liaison for the access control of employees, contractors, visitors, and official guests.
You will verify the credentials and requirements for access for all personnel requiring special electronic permissions, pass, or badge.
You will conduct physical security surveys of specified building and facilities, as required by applicable regulations, for identifying security deficiencies and preparing reports of findings and recommendations for correction of deficiencies.
You will assist the locksmith in complex duties involving producing keys, repairing or replacing defective locks, as required.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1) Performing a variety of access control functions;
2) Applying physical security principles and regulations to an installation;
3) Identifying security violations or discrepancies; and
4) Utilizing MS word platforms to communicate orally and in writing.

Education
The following education is qualifying for GS-09:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work as a Physical Security Specialist.
Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (https://www.ed.gov/). Therefore, provide only the attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
