Summary
About the Position: This position is located at Davis Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona.
A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized.

Duties
Provide technical assistance and support to all customers of Biomedical Equipment Repair shop.
Perform acceptances/initial inspections on new equipment.
Inspect biomedical equipment systems to determine operational status and compliance with technical standards and specifications.
Measure accuracy of devices, sound pressure levels, etc.
Utilize hand and power tools in a safe manner, employing personal protective equipment (goggles, gloves, hearing protection, etc.) where appropriate or required by current guidance.
Resolve installation and associated maintenance support problems.

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.
Moderate to heavy lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
This position may include shift work (evenings, weekends, holidays).
This position may require the incumbent to work on call during irregular work hours which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying work schedules.
This position may require the incumbent to work weekends and/or holidays.
Must possess and maintain a valid stateside driver's license.

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Medical Equipment Repairer ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common tasks on most medical equipment. I can maintain medical equipment in order to ensure a safe environment of care; review instructions to make repairs using cables, gears, shafts, and/or pulleys; and determine the nature and extent of repairs. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

Physical Effort: Frequent lifting of 10-40 lbs. and occasional heavy lifting. Considerable standing, stooping, bending, and frequently working in cramped and awkward positions for prolonged periods. Some climbing and occasional working from ladders may be required. Requires close hand-eye coordination and normal color perception.
Working Conditions: Work is performed primarily indoors but with occasional outdoor tasks. They are exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, scrapes, broken bones, and serious bums caused by electrical shock. Repairers work in contaminated and contagious disease areas, and with radiation and contaminated equipment. Subject to potential of electrical shock from handling high voltage/high frequency circuitry. Subject to incidental occupational levels to exposure to: ionizing radiation; mechanical hazards, toxic chemicals, gasses, and fumes; pressurized steam; loud noise; and hot pipes/metal objects. May occasionally work from a 6-foot ladder.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
One year trial/probationary period may be required.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.

Position is designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
