Summary The Smithsonian Institution is the world’s largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in Smithsonian Institution’s Office of Facilities Management (FM), Office of Facilities Management and Reliability (OFMR).  The Office of Facilities Management and Reliability provides the full range of building services through eight maintenance and operational zones. Duties The Facilities Services Leader is responsible for performing a variety of duties in zone to support overall facility maintneance; work including peforming heavy manual tasks and maintaiing facility cleaniliness. The Facility Services Leader may be required to work late shifts, weekends and holidays. In this position, you will: Lead a team of three or more Building Service Workers/Facilities Services Workers performing tasks involving physical labor and equipment operations as well as performing general custodial duties. Check work in progress and when completed to ensure supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines have been met. Provide input to supervisor on performance appraisals and position descriptions and additional on the job training requirements for individual employees. Notify supervisor or leader of apparent defects in building and exhibit systems, such as, but not limited to, leaks, cracks, breaks, unusual smells, etc. as well as apparent safety hazards. Conditions of Employment Physical Requirements: This position requires the physical ability to perform moderately heavy work including lifting and carrying heavy objects up to 50 lbs.; work outside in all weather conditions with exposure to dirt, dust, pollen and insects; climb ladders and stairs; and stand and walk for extended periods. The Facility Services Leader may be required to work late shifts, weekends and holidays and is subject to be beinng called in for emergencies to restore the Smithsoninan Institution to normal operations.  Qualifications In order to be rated qualified, an applicant's overall experience and training must indicate possession of the minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to perform the duties of this position.  Your resume must be no more than two (2) pages and should clearly demonstrate how your experience aligns with the responsibilities and specialized experience required for this position.
