  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Education:
Undergraduate and Graduate Education:
Major study -- electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled.

Other Education: Communications/electronics or automatic data processing training in technical institutes or business schools above the high school level or in Armed Forces schools that included advanced instruction in addition to basic courses, may be substituted for general experience on a month-for-month basis.

OR

Experience:
General Experience (for GS-5 positions):
Experience that provided a basic knowledge of telecommunications functions, problems, and/or solutions.

Specialized Experience (for positions above GS-5): Experience in evaluating, analyzing, developing, managing, or improving communications systems, procedures, and requirements that demonstrated knowledge of current developments and trends in communications concepts and technology.



EXPERIENCE:
In addition to the basic education listed above, Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector:
  • Experience developing procurements, assignments, and protection of radio frequencies to the satisfaction of telecommunication requirements.
  • Experience maintaining Radio Frequency Management at Agency, National and Internation level.
  • Experience maintaining International treaties, National agreements and arrangements pertaining to frequency protection and spectrum efficiency.
  • Experience performing supervisory functions such as planning regular work assignments, prepares plans to meet substantial changes in workload and justifying revisions in staffing levels, work priorities and deadlines.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
