DescriptionSummary:
The competent Nurse, in the same or similar clinical setting, practices
independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. Provides routine
and complex care, with the ability to on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability
to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and
delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical
situation.
Requirements:
A. Education/SkillsÂ
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing,
preferred.Â
B. ExperienceÂ
• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.Â
•
Critical Care/Emergency Department experience preferred.
C. Licenses, Registrations, or
CertificationsÂ
• BLS requiredÂ
• RN License in state of employment or compactÂ
• Current PALS
certification at time of hire or within 12 weeks of hire for experienced RNs or completion by the
end of the clinical orientation period for new graduate nurses. Maintain certification
thereafter.
• Current ACLS certification at time of hire or within 12 weeks of hire for experienced
RNs or completion by the end of the clinical orientation period for new graduate nurses. Maintain
certification thereafter.
• Current TNCC and ENPC certification within 12 months of hire for
experienced RNs or completion within 18 months of hire for new graduate nurses. Maintain
certification thereafter.
• Current NIHSS certification at time of hire or within 90 days of hire
for experienced RNs or completion within 12 months of hire for new graduate nurses. Maintain
certification thereafter.
• Moderate Sedation within 3 months of hire for experienced RNs or within
12 months of hire for new graduate nurses. Maintain certification annually.
• De-escalation
training within 90 days of hire and maintain training as indicated per program.
• Completion of an
evidence based triage curriculum at:
12 months of hire for new graduate or inexperienced RNs (less
than 1 year of nursing experience)
3 months of hire for experienced RNs (more than 1 year of
nursing experience)
• Current Arrhythmia recognition at time of hire or within 8 weeks of hire for
experienced RNs or completion within 6 months for new graduate nurses.
