Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for positions in support of the safety of the public to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

Duties
Ensure physical security measures are in effect in remote areas of the installation.
Liaison with local State and Department of interior in studies of endangered wildlife.
Conduct a full range of difficult and complex law enforcement activities such as surveillance, interviewing, and search and seizure.
Promote public awareness of fish, game laws and regulations.
Investigate violations of environmental and fish and game laws.

This is a Term position.
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Successfully graduated from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy, unless incumbent has a current approved waiver/exemption or grandfathered from the Office of the Provost Marshal General.
Successfully graduated from the USAMPS Conservation Law Enforcement Officer Course within one year of assignment.
Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes. Which include, but not limited to: weapons qualifications.
Certifications for Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) /first aid techniques.
Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions which include, but not limited to: National Incident Management System (NIMS) training requirements.
Successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical / psychiatric evaluation.
Pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter.
Comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP).
This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) and is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program.
Subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment.
Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential.
Incumbent must possess a valid state driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator’s license.
Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime.
Official Temporary Duty (TDY) may occasionally be required.
Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals.
Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11.
Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime
This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required
Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:(1) Performing law enforcement duties such as enforcing traffic laws, issuing tickets, questioning or apprehending violators of federal or local laws; (2) Conducting law enforcement investigations into violations of federal and state laws such as fish, wildlife, or environmental laws; and (3) Executing patrol assignments to monitor activities and ensure compliance with established regulations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
One year trial/probationary period may be required.
Direct Deposit of Pay is required.

Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement..
Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest.
Relocation or recruitment incentive may be authorized.
Student loan repayment may be authorized.
Salary negotiations for those candidates who are new to Federal service may be authorized.
Credit for Prior Non-Federal Work Experience and Certain Military Service for Determining Annual Leave Accrual Rate may be authorized.
This is an obligated position. An obligated position is one to which an employee has statutory restoration rights or entitlement based on active military service, recovery from a compensable injury, or return rights based on an overseas tour. You will be asked to sign an agreement acknowledging that you are aware of the obligation and willing to be displaced under reduction in force procedures upon the return of the former incumbent.
Term Appointment NTE - Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 2 year Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years.
Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position.
