Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located with the Directorate of Public Works, Fort Campbell, KY. Duties Operate a variety of engineer heavy equipment in the construction and maintenance of roads and land management. Operate a grader with articulated steering to grade roads and parking lots. Excavate, backfill, clear brush and maintain landfills utilizing a bulldozer. Load dump trucks and perform trenching and excavating utilizing front end-loader and backhoe. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Abuse Testing Program. This position requires a Tennessee or Kentucky Commercial Driver's License (CDL). This position requires a pre-employment physical. This is an inclement weather position. This is an emergency essential position. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Engineering Equipment Operator (Motor Vehicle Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision: Operating a steering road grader, a bulldozer, excavator, backhoe, tractor and dump trucks. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Engineering Equipment Operation: Heavy physical effort is used in constantly reaching, bending, turning, and moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to handle controls. Considerable strain is caused by the constant vibration, jolting, and jerking of equipment over terrain. Motor Vehicle Operation: Moderate physical effort is required in operating, turning, driving, backing, and dumping trucks and in the operation of other controls. Working Conditions: Engineering Equipment Operation: This work is performed outside in all types of weather, in open cabs, over rough and rocky terrain, swamps, flat land, hills, in dense forest areas, and on steep rises having a wide variety of soil conditions. Incumbent is subject to noise, vibration, dust, dirt, and fumes from motor and exhaust. Motor Vehicle Operation Works outside and is occasionally exposed to injury due to possible overturning of equipment. Is subject to the possibility of serious accident and to cuts, bruises, and broken bones. Is exposed to noise levels above 85dB(A) requiring the use of hearing protection devices. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement. Additional information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
