Summary
Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members, their families, retired military and civilian employees. This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Unaccompanied Housing; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations command (CNIC)

Duties
. Performs custodial duties as required inside and outside of buildings including, but not limited to, trash/garbage removal, sweeping, dusting, mopping, vacuuming, washing walls/windows, and sanitizing bathrooms/kitchens.
. Cleans lobbies, passageways, stairwells, laundry rooms, public restrooms, and other common use areas in and around buildings.
. Loads, unloads, and relocates heavy, bulky items such as furniture, supplies, and linen (clean and dirty) by hand or using carts, dollies, hand trucks, golf carts, or similar lifting/carrying devices.
. Performs deep cleaning, which may include defrosting refrigerators and freezers, cleaning windows (interior and exterior), replacing and/or cleaning drapes/curtains, moving furniture, cleaning woodwork and hard to reach areas, and carpet cleaning (shampoo and/or spot treatment).
. Uses pressure washers, steam cleaners, floor buffers, and carpet cleaning machines, when required.
. Ensures security of all guests is maintained at all times.
. Ensures guest privacy is maintained at all times.
. Answers guest questions concerning facilities and provides information about local resources with a welcoming manner and positive attitude.
. Assists in handling customer complaints, involving management as necessary.
. Assists management with the facility's inventory control program.
. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Conditions of employment
The staff member may be recalled to duty and/or required to work overtime, including on an emergency basis.
May be required to possess a valid state driver license, as travel to other facilities may be required within the normal scope of duties.
This position is subject to the possibility of workdays on weekends and holidays, as well as, rotating shifts, often consisting of other than normal duty hours.
Incumbent must pass all applicable records and background checks.
Qualifications
Knowledge and skill sufficient to read signs, follow oral and written instructions, and communicate effective with management, staff, and guests.
Able to apply general knowledge of cleaning procedures for proper use of cleaning equipment and approved, commonly used cleaning products.
Must be able to learn and follow all safety procedures.
Must have ability to safely operate and use janitorial tools, equipment, and supplies such as floor buffers, vacuum cleaners, cleaning compounds and solutions and perform minor maintenance on this equipment.
The position requires frequently lifting and moving objects weighing up to 40 pounds and occasionally objects weighing up to 100 pounds assisted or unassisted.

There is no education requirement for this position.
Additional information
Salary is dependent on experience and/or education. Some positions have special requirements. Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
Participation in Direct Deposit/Electronic Fund Transfer within the first 30 days of employment is required. We utilize E-Verify to confirm selectee's eligibility to work in the United States.
