UPMCĀ Central PaĀ is accepting experienced as well as new graduate physician assistant and/or nurse
practitioner candidates to join the Emergency Medicine Department APEPĀ program.Ā Goals of APEP
Program: To provide consistent, evidence based, and structured education on specialty specific;
typical and atypical patient presentations. The focus will be on appropriate management,
intervention, and the disposition of the Emergency Department PatientProgram Structure: The 12-month
program will follow the NCCPA content blueprint which includes cardiovascular, dermatologic,
endocrine, eyes, ears, nose, throat, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, hematologic, musculoskeletal,
neurologic, psycho-behavioral, pulmonary, renal, reproductive, environmental,Ā infectious disease,
toxicology, trauma, procedures, and other skills.Clinical Details:Rotating 4 central PA hospital
emergency departments:Harrisburg Hospital urban setting with 61,000 visits per year, 52-Bed
Emergency DepartmentCommunity General Hospital community setting with 31,000 visits per year, 21 bed
Emergency DepartmentWest Shore Hospital community setting with 27,000 visits per year, 28 bed
Emergency DepartmentCarlisle Hospital community setting with 27,000 visits per year, 27Ā bed
