Job Description

Lockton Midwest is excited to announce we are seeking a Marine Account Executive. The Account Executive is responsible for marketing and service needs for a designated book of Lockton marine clients. This includes hull, P&I, vessel pollution, marine general liability, stock through-put, and other marine specific coverages. The position reports directly to the Unit Manager and is expected to work in a highly independent role and in accordance with Lockton policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Complete exposure and coverage review
  • Provide market update / guidance to client
  • Create renewal proposal for client
  • Provide recommendations for insurance program improvements
  • Consult with client to determine if insurance program should be marketed
  • Lead client renewal strategy meeting
  • Negotiate terms, conditions, and premiums with underwriters
  • Present renewal proposal and make recommendations to client
  • Review prospect information, support RFP and other sales activity
  • Determine which underwriters to approach for renewals (collaborate)
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration with producers
  • Initiate and manage entire renewal process in a timely manner
  • Initiate involvement of Unit Manager, Team Lead, and/or other Lockton resources as needed
  • Assist in development of other associates by identifying additional skills, training needs, etc.
  • Strong presentation skills, including preparation, execution, and delivery of materials
  • Coordinate/collaborate with Claims and Loss Control
  • Analyze complex data, interpret, and communicate findings
  • Listen to clients and colleagues, provide meaningful feedback, and collaborate to identify problems and solutions
  • Share subject matter expertise in development of other associates
  • Provide strategic planning and consulting advice to clients, prospects, and team members
  • Lead all meetings with client and Producer with minimal direct involvement of Unit Manager


Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of industry experience with focus on marine coverages
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) or similar software applications
  • In addition to expertise-level knowledge of marine insurance, advanced working knowledge of commercial property/casualty coverages and services
  • Substantial experience in marketing and servicing the insurance needs of commercial accounts
  • Demonstrated professional, tactful negotiation and persuasion skills to achieve objectives
  • Viewed as collaborative, patient, and a team player across Series and Lockton as a whole
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to prioritize heavy workloads to meet time sensitive deadlines
  • Demonstrate ability to instill confidence and comfort with clients so client looks to you and to Lockton as more than just an insurance broker, but a partner in business
  • Wholly understands the concept, issues, and overall impact of market pricing
  • Understanding of commercial rating concepts
  • Ability to consult clients on other Lockton services and insurance needs
  • Ability to make decisions in compliance with established Lockton standards of quality performance and service
  • Understanding and executing superior service and relationship in accordance with Lockton quality procedures and performance standards
  • Professional/polished presence to interface with top management of other businesses, representing Lockton in the highest professional manner
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead the service team and harness resources for the benefit of the client
  • Ability and willingness to proactively coach and mentor other Associates
  • Strong work ethic-prompt, willingness to put in the work to do whatever it takes to assist client or prospect
