About This Job

This position maintains direct accountability for Commerce Bank's growing and retaining existing small business client relationships. It works in conjunction with Small Business Banking leadership and Retail leadership to focus on client satisfaction, retention, client education and relationship expansion. Successful candidates are able to work independently and capable of identifying and recommending appropriate solutions for the small business customers. This position also regularly collaborates Small Business Sales Specialists to coordinate activities with multiple resources/departments to ensure the clients' objectives are met.

Essential Functions

  • Perform outbound communication with targeted customers with the objective to retain and expand existing relationships
  • Serve as the primary advisor for an assigned portfolio of diverse and complex small business commercial relationships, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction and retention
  • Work with Portfolio Administrators, Branch Managers and Sales Associates on certain customer service requests for existing relationships
  • Work independently and with branches and business line partners to help facilitate simple and complex credit requests
  • Facilitate the resolution of service requests for existing relationships, engaging product experts as needed
  • Implement promotional strategies with marketing support to expand and deepen client relationships in market
  • Ensure compliance with all bank policies, procedures, regulations, and laws
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

  • Thorough knowledge of full range of business products, credit policies, procedures, and terminology
  • Exceptional customer service, persuasive and negotiation skills
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Inquisitive, agile, and strong team player with excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • 2+ years of banking or account management experience required

For this position, federal regulations require Commerce Bank to prepare an investigatory consumer report which will disclose credit history. If you express interest in and are considered for this position, you will be asked to authorize that report.
