Accountant 1

SC&A, Inc., an employee-owned environmental and energy consulting firm, is seeking a full-time entry-level/junior accountant. The position will be salaried based on 30 hours/week, with benefits and the possibility to increase to full-time. A hybrid work environment is anticipated, with two days/week typically spent in the Arlington, VA office.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelors degree, with a major in Accounting or equivalent coursework, strong communication and Excel skills, attention to detail, and a minimum of 1 year of experience in a professional office environment. Familiarity with government contracts and experience using accounting or ERP software packages would be advantages. Responsibilities include the following, performed under the supervision of the staff accountant with oversight from the CFO:

• processing monthly customer invoices and revenue entries
• reviewing, inputting, and tracking vendor and consultant invoices
• following up on delinquent accounts receivable
• preparing general ledger entries as assigned
• preparing monthly bank reconciliation
• responding to accounting-related staff inquiries
• performing staff accountant duties in the staff accountant’s absence
• other duties as needed or assigned
