Job Description
The Accountant will perform general accounting activities for assigned functions in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) standards. Activities include: prepare journal entries; document and maintain accounting procedures; assist with support of quarterly and year end audits; prepare monthly and quarterly analysis as well as account reconciliations.
Are you up to the challenge?
- Support the general accounting process for various functional areas, including Intercompany, Cash, Debt, and other adhering to a strict monthly accounting close schedule
- Prepare journal entries with referenced supporting documentation in accordance with best practices
- Conduct account analysis and research to ensure accuracy and understanding of account balances and activity
- Prepare various reconciliations, schedules, and reports. Use accounting knowledge to provide correcting entries to management for any reconciling items and works to minimize such discrepancies on a go-forward basis
- Prepare audit packages, as assigned
- Interact with various levels of staff to obtain information and/or resolve issues for assigned tasks, accounts and/or legal entities
- Create and/or maintain process documentation and procedures for assigned tasks.
- Conduct administrative tasks, as assigned, that require coordination across groups and/or functions
- Provide support on special projects as needed
You should definitely have:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with a major in accounting or finance
- One or more year(s) of demonstrated accounting experience
- Familiarity with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), SEC and other accounting and reporting standards
- Proficiency with computer, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and oral communication skills required
- Strong motivation, initiative, and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
It would be nice if you had:
- CPA certification or CPA candidate
