Accountant

The Accountant role will be a part of the Servicing Bank Reconciliation team reporting into the Accounting Manager. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in MS Excel and be a fast learner. As the candidate advances in their knowledge, there will be opportunity to work on more advanced special projects. This role will be paramount in the overall success of the accounting team and will be well integrated with the roles of the other team members.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform daily reconciliations of servicing accounts such as Payment Clearing, Disbursement Clearing, and Remittance Clearing.
• Research reconciling items, communicate them to the appropriate lines of business, and follow up/escalate as needed to ensure timely resolution
• Assist with escheatment procedures relating to Disbursement Clearing and Remittance Clearing bank accounts including reporting and remitting to all states as well as reconciling outstanding checks
• Post journal entries related to revenue recognition, cash movement, customer receivables/payables
• Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Candidates that show high level of aptitude will be included in advanced projects as assigned

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years mortgage servicing experience
• Minimum 2 years accounting experience or minimum 2 years relevant experience at a financial institution
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• MSP Experience preferred
• Analytical, detail oriented, independent thinker
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the willingness to be flexible and adapt to change

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Math, or another related field or at least 2 years of relevant experience.
