Accountant

The Accountant - Accounts Receivable provides technical accounting expertise to the Accounting and Finance team by fulfilling accounting-related tasks. Key job responsibilities include working with customer invoices, contracts, credit memos, account reconciliations, and compiling information as necessary for outside auditors and tax service providers. The Accountant - Accounts Receivable also assists with assigned special projects.

Responsibilities

Contract Review and Interpretation: Interprets contracts and invoices with available knowledge and implements credit memos within the scope of authority

• Compares customer invoice entries to contracts and sales orders and makes corrections as needed

• Reviews and interprets sales contracts to confirm agreement details

• Communicates with Sales team on all new contracts and customers to ensure invoice matches intent behind the order

• Ensures proper recognition of revenue is captured on the organization's financial statements

Technical Accounting Expertise: Provides accounting expertise in assigned area of accounts receivable

• Handles queue of customer and sales team inquiries and forwards to the appropriate team member for response; researches and responds to more complex questions; escalate to higher levels as needed

• Completes assigned account reconciliations at month-end and forwards to controller for review

• Demonstrates and applies strong accounting knowledge, acumen, and technical expertise

• Handles outside auditor questions and provides support to outside auditors, tax service providers, and other project personnel as requested

What You'll Need

Skills

• Analytical ability to interpret contracts and policies

• Proficient accounting software knowledge, along with generic computer skills required

• Spreadsheet skills preferred

• Strong communication (written, verbal, and listening) and collaborative skills to work with internal and external partners

Experience

• 3+ years of Accounting experience required

• Prior Saas experience strongly preferred

• Salesforce and Intacct strongly preferred

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required

• Associates degree in accounting with 5-7 years of significant progressive operating experience in accounting would be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree

• CPA preferred

Travel Requirement

• Less than 10% of travel

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

• Minimal telecommuting may be allowed for infrequent personal reasons

• Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, not in a Workiva office.
