Huntsman is seeking an Accountant supporting our GBS in San Jose, Costa Rica. This position will report to the CR Accounting Manager.

Job Scope

The focus of this position will be supporting the business needs with monthly close, JE postings, inventory adjustments, account reconciliations, off-site inventory reconciliations, among other tasks. The ideal candidate must be self-motivated, have an aptitude to learn, be self-accountable for monthly tasks, and be able to meet deadlines.

This position requires the individual be capable of trend analysis, reconciliation, and proactive.

In summary, as the accountant, you will:  

• Prepare monthly and quarterly JE’s (accruals, obsolescence calculations, inventory adjustments, gains/losses, etc.).
• Reconcile inventory at 3rd party warehouses.
• Inventory auditing and review of obsolete inventory.
• Accounting for material samples and product returns.
• Reconciliation of legal to management (PA and FI).
• Drive continuous improvement through developing, automating, and maintaining reports and processes.
• Assist in providing analytical support for the business group.
• Assist as needed for special projects/improvements.
• Assist in the preparation of audit schedules.
• Knowledge of US GAAP.

Prioritized Essential Functions and Principal Accountabilities

With moderate supervision and moderate decision-making:

• Responsible for general ledger accounting, stock-points and consignment inventory reconciliations, reconciliation of accounts. Ensure stock-point balances are reconciled monthly to SAP.
• Month end close supporting the Rubicon accounting team
• Audit – Support the team in fulfilling all quarterly and annual audit requirements, including the preparation of all PBC schedules. Assist the team in resolving audit inquiries as requested.
• SOX Compliance – Support in maintaining internal controls as required by SOX.

Other general responsibilities:

• Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
• Assists other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals.
• Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
• Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
 
The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.

Minimum Qualifications

•  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent relevant experience required.
• 2 - 10 years accounting experience.
• C1 English level required.

Skills and Knowledge

• Intermediate Excel skills (there will be a test).
• SAP experience is a plus. 
• BI experience is a plus.
• Cost accounting experience.
